Vergissmeinnicht (Forget-me-nots) - symbol of remembrance
Perhaps it is the tiny yellow stars at the center of that intense blue blossom that touch us so immediately, like stars sparkling in a deep blue sky. These flowers are called by the same name from Europe to China to Japan: Vergissmeinnicht, ne m˚oubliez pas, no-me-olvides, forglan-mig-ikke, Wu Wang Cao...and FORGET-ME-NOT. It is a symbol of tender remembrance, of love's farewell, of friendship and, most of all, of loyalty.
Thus, many sagas and poems take inspiration from it: Goethe, in "Blümlein Wunderschön", tells the tale of a lonely Count, withering in a dungeon, with only one thought: that his loved one might not forget him. From the window of his tower, he focuses on the forget-me-not, whose image is destined to promise his true love's loyalty.
Nowadays, the blue blossoms in tiny bouquets enchant everyone - or aid to create refined soaps.
